Working On Story With Susannah Waters

In this weekend retreat each writer will be given the opportunity to work on the overall structure and flow of their story. In two 1-to-1 sessions with Susannah, as well as two group sessions, we will explore character problems, cause & effect, and theme in order to shore up the weaker areas of your story and get you back on track. Everyone should come with a draft synopsis as a working document.

Susannah Waters works as a freelance editor for many best-selling and debut novelists in both the commercial and literary genres. She is a tutor on the Creative Writing Programme at New Writing South and has also taught for the Arvon Foundation and The Literary Consultancy. She has published two novels: Long Gone Anybody (BlackSwan) and Cold Comfort (Doubleday/Black Swan).

£305 fully inclusive of tuition, accommodation, and all meals. Retreat runs from 4pm Friday to 4pm Sunday. All rooms are single occupancy with your own desk. Limited to 9 places – book early to avoid disappointment.

The High Weald Retreat Centre is set in the High Weald AONB. Our beautiful gardens include many peaceful spots for writing as well as a heated natural swimming pond. We are 6 miles from Rye and 10 miles from Hastings.
